Being a hot day, here in Kabini, even the Elephants decided to go for a swim! We were fortunate to be around to watch them beat the heat.

Photographing swimming elephants is not as easy as it sounds. The problem is that not much is visible above water, and the little that is, keeps bobbing up and down and is difficult to shoot.

Nevertheless, since we were in the boat we managed to get quite close to them and also got a few shots.

When Elephants swim it is very important for them to keep their trunks above the water surface so they can breathe.

We noticed that there were two small calves as well.

After a swim, the family emerged out of the water, making sure the little ones stayed close.
