This juvenile Changeable Hawk Eagle is becoming a familiar sight and is being counted among my old friends.
It was a bright and sunny day and totally uncharacteristic of the monsoon month. I was the Naturalist for the evening boat safari with 18 guests. The Kabini backwaters were rising as it was raining heavily in Kerala.
Hot afternoons are uncomfortable at the best of times and all of us like to retreat to a cool spot, a private swimming pool, of course would be the best bet. Can you imagine how you would feel if you were forced to wear a fur coat?
We saw this large tusker browsing on bamboo from a distance and turned the boat towards him. He was so far that it took us about ten minutes to reach him. He seemed quite content browsing and we thought we would spend some time watching him.
